DANGER FROM ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the intelligence shown by machines. In tourism industry, everyone insists that AI will help people enter a new world, which is the world of technology. However, it is time for us to guard against a prospect of humanity which is dominated by artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence is going into the life of every nation, every person. Artificial intelligence is turning unimaginable things into reality. It grows amazingly; furthermore, it gradually replaces people such as diagnostic robots, unmanned cars, etc which are used in tourism industry. The future will be more than that, it can grow faster than we thought.

Most researchers agree that a smart AI is not capable of expressing human emotions like love or hate. Moreover, it has no reason to expect the AI to become intentionally charitable or evil. Autonomous weapons are artificial intelligence systems programmed to kill. If the AI is programmed to do something devastating and it lies in the hands of the wrong person, these weapons can easily cause massive casualties. These weapons will be designed to prevent simple abilities like “off”; therefore, people may lose control of such situations. The video below will demonstrate that Autonomous Weapons endanger humanity. It is even more dangerous than nuclear weapons.

The AI is programmed to do something beneficial; however, it develops to a destructive direction to achieve its purpose. For example, if you are travelling and ask for a smart car to take you to the airport as quickly as possible, it can run at a speed that makes you be chased by a helicopter. Therefore, it is difficult to control the execution of artificial intelligence.  AI does what you ask and it doesn’t follow what you want.

On the positive side, AI can be used to help the battlefield become a safe place because it reduces casualties for soldiers. However, because of this reason, it can have great consequences for the lives of innocent people.

Perhaps we remember Sophia, the robot created by the research groups Hanson Robotics and Hiroshi Ishiguro. Sophia was first activated on April 19, 2015. Moreover, Sophia is considered one of the most humanoid robots in the world. This robot can simulate more than 62 facial expressions. In the video below, it is easy to see Sophia’s intelligence and responsiveness in communication. However, at the end of the video, when Hanson asked the question: “Do you want to destroy humans? Please say no!”, Sophia had a scary answer: “Okay, I’ll destroy humans! “

All technologies can be used for both good and bad purposes; therefore, artificial intelligence has no exception. It can help people solve many challenges that are facing in society today such as poverty, financial crisis, inequality and climate change. However, artificial intelligence can also destroy our world.

In conclusion, no one knows what will happen in the future. At the moment, artificial intelligence is seen as one of the great successes of the technological revolution. Artificial intelligence is a double-edged sword that has its own good and bad side. Depending on the purpose of human use, it should not be overused.
